Spin-e-Kube Red Grandis

Each of these is built to order. Time to ship varies. We offer 3 wheel types - scotch tension, irish tension, and art yarn Spin-e-Kubes. You can choose your wood base type and then your spinner color.

Scotch Tension wheels have left or right handed controls, and feature a drive band on the flyer and a brake band on the bobbin. They are suitable for most standard knit and crochet size yarns. More photos are coming soon.

Irish Tension wheels have controls in the front of the machine and feature a drive band on the bobbin and a brake band on the flyer, They are suitable for most standard knit and crochet yarns.

Art yarn wheels have a non-traditional orifice, and are suitable for large, unorthodox fibers(plarn) and bulky yarns such as those used in weaving and wall hangings.

Our budget friendly Scotch and Irish tension wheels feature a copper flyer shaft, and the Art yarn wheels have a steel flyer shaft with 3-d printed hooks and wood flyer posts. With an adjustable speed and reversible motor, there is plenty of draw for plying along with your choice of spin speeds. Our wood base has non-skid feet , and allows for easy one handed access to the belt, controls, and tensioner. Bearings are tucked within our flyer supports to ensure smooth operation, and the PLA plastic supports featuring matching copper art deco designs give the wheel an antique appeal. You will receive our amazing Spin-e-Kube wheel with three bobbins, a power cord, cleaning brush, and an extra brake band. Irish and scotch tension wheels include an orifice hook, and art yarn wheels come with a flyer key. We also offer a limited 1 year warranty with each purchase

About the 3-D Printed Spin-e-Kube Parts

PLA is a plant based plastic, and is available in many colors. We use silk PLA which gives the Spin-e-Kube its’ metallic appearance.

Flyer –

The main yoke of the flyer is 3d printed, but the center of the flyer is a copper shaft, with a ½ inch orifice. This is perfect for most knitting and crochet size yarns. The Flyer arms are made of wood. There are 4 small PLA hooks with the Scotch and irsh tension wheels. The art yarn spinner comes with four small, four medium, and four large hooks.

End Supports/ Maidens –

These are 3d Printed PLA plastic with sealed bearings to prevent wear. No grease or oiling required.Scotch and irish tension wheels have two supports with the flyer balanced between them. Art yarn has one main support with a permanently fixed shaft.

Bobbins –

each machine has 3 included bobbins, Scotch and Irish tension holds about 8 oz of spun fiber. Art yarn bobbins are 1 lbThe center shaft is made from CPVC and glued to the PLA.About the Wood Base

By securely attaching the PLA spinner parts to a sturdy wood base we minimize the wheel travelling or vibrating. This is also accomplished by the rubber feet on the bottom. This ensures a smooth spin and prevents the wheel from “walking” off the table. Our wood bases are from Shapard’s Lumberyard and are available in many wood varieties and in left or right handed variations.

Dimensions – These are about 11.5” L x 11.5” W x 10” H

Bases are expected to contain areas with knots, streaks, and the occasional wood crack, insect hole, sawmark, or ding. These are considered part of the unique design of your base and will not affect the mechanics of the spinner. Please message us if you have specific base requirements or to make a special request.

About the motor and electronics – Our motor is a permanent magnet motor that reaches a maximum speed of about 1400 rpm. It is expected to last at least 1 year under normal daily spinning conditions. The components are tested and assembled in house, and require no maintenance, as they are sealed inside and attached to the base.

All of our Spin-e-Kube related products (Spin-e-Kubes, bobbins, bobbin holders etc) have a 1 year warranty which covers replacement and repair. Returns are accepted for damaged goods with the expectation that we will replace or repair the product. Generally we do not accept returns for refunds - but each case is considered on a one by one basis. In the event that a refund is requested - we do not refund the original shipping amount, and we charge a fee for the return shipping and handling that is deducted from the final refund amount. Once a return is received, we issue the refund in 7-10 business days

The warranty covers manufacturing defects in the wood box, motor, electronic controls, and 3-D printed parts. The manufacturer warrants this product to be free from defects in workmanship and materials, under normal residential use and conditions, for a period of one (1) year for the original invoice date. Shipping and handling fees are to be paid for by the customer. The manufacturer agrees, at its option during the warranty period, to repair any defect in material or workmanship or to furnish a repaired or refurbished product of equal value in exchange without charge (except for a fee for shipping, handling, packing, return postage, and insurance which will be incurred by the customer). Such repair or replacement is subject to verification of the defect or malfunction.
